## は別として

は{別|べつ}として means "aside from", "whether or not".
Used with nouns.

> Aside from the insects, today was fun.

With verbs and adjectives, かどうか is placed before.

> {勝|かつ}かどうか==は別として==、{試合|しあい}をやってみたい。
> Whether we win or not, I want to play the game.
